The Latin American Folk Institute has just acquired its current site, a historic building in Mount Rainier, MD. This historic two-story brick building initially served as the Prince George's Bank. The building sits across the new traffic circle on the heavily commuted intersection of 34th Street and Rhode Island Avenue, at the center of the newly designated Gateway Arts and Entertainment District and only one block from the Washington, D.C. line.
The acquisition of this new site will allow LAFI to expand its current programs and music classes, as well as to offer a gathering place for community meetings and activities.
Congratulations to all our members and volunteers who helped make this acquisition possible!
