Working Souls.
This exhibition is part of Unseenwashington a program of first person photographs and stories by SEIU Local 82 building service workers in Washington, DC. During a ten-week workshop, seven Latino janitors worked with a professional photographer and learned to use their cameras to tell their stories. Unseenwashington is part of the unseenamerica project, a nationwide effort to give cameras and photography classes to a variety of workers including homecare attendants, migrant workers, nannies, steelworkers, doormen, janitors, garment workers, and many more. Unseenwashington is a joint effort of the Washington Area Partnership for Immigrants, a funding collaborative housed at The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, Service Employees Internal Union Local 82, the Bread and Roses Cultural Project, and the SEIU Greenhouse Cultural Program.
